If you find yourself constantly asking the question of “why is my workout not working?” then here at 30 Day Fitness we have the answer. In this article you’ll read about where you might be going wrong with your workout and how you can fix this in why is my workout not working.
You Haven’t Changed Diet
Exercise is great, but it only makes up half of the solution for losing weight. If you’re not eating a nutritious diet with the right number of calories that you need to manage your weight then you’re going to be left disappointed with your results. We know how much seeing progress matters to anyone who’s trying to get in better shape. Having proper nutrition fuels your workouts, but if you eat too much and you could end up gaining more weight. If you eat too little then you won’t have the energy or desire to exercise at all.
You’ve Done Too Much, Much Too Soon
You won’t get your results overnight and if you’re committed to changing your body then you’ll know that there is no point trying to rush losing weight. But how many of us decide that we’re going to get in shape and then get totally gung-ho about it, spend hours at the gym only to find ourselves tired, sore and no thinner after a week or two? The best way you can get over this is to be patient about it, remember that you’re making a change to your lifestyle that you will maintain for the rest of your life so it’s important to remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Doing this will also help you to prevent injury too.
You’re Not Working Hard Enough
If you’ve been maintaining your exercise routine for several weeks, months or years then it’s definitely time to increase the intensity and start pushing yourself. As you workout more and more, your body will adapt to this and become more than efficient at doing this activity every time you do this. This means that over time, the 30-minute workout that was challenging for you three months ago doesn’t provide the same results. In fact, you’re actually burning fewer calories and your body is no longer changing if you’re still doing the same old thing. Which is why you’ll see the exercises progress in difficulty in our 30 day fitness challenges too because they push you to work harder and achieve the results you’re looking for.
Why Is My Workout Not Working? You’re Sitting Around All Day
If you work out regularly then that’s all great, but it all depends on what you do for the rest of the day as well. If you put in an exercise session only to sit behind a desk for the rest of the day and watch tv all night on your couch then you’re going to be undoing all the hard work that you’ve completed in the gym that morning. The way to get over this is to work more activity into all areas of your life by going for a walk after your dinner, choosing to stand whenever possible, taking the stairs, parking your car further away and replacing your TV time for more active relaxation. Also, if your job requires you to sit in front of a computer all day, set a timer to beep every half hour or hour to remind you to stand up, stretch and do a quick lap around the office. All these will help you to make sure that you can keep the hard work that you’ve done.
Yes, cardio is important for calorie burning, but a proper exercise plan includes cardio, strength training and flexibility. If you’re just doing cardio, then you will be burning calories and be strengthening your cardiovascular system, but you won’t be really changing your body composition by building more muscle. For that, you need strength training! Lift weights or do body-weight exercises, such as lunges and push-ups, at least twice a week to reap the amazing benefits of resistance training; including decreased body fat, increased muscle mass and stronger bone density. So why is my workout not working? You need to switch your workout up.
